Replacements

When I tell people I'm Vegetarian and semi-Vegan most people say "Well, what do you eat?" This allways cracks me up because most people think that all Vegetarians and Vegans eat is salad and celery but there are so many meat replacers, milk substitutes, and even butter that is not made from dairy! You can pick any food and there is a Vegan replacement for it, like turkey if you are vegan you get Tofurky (It's amazing!). For butter, EarthBalance. For sausage, Get Lean, the list goes on forever! I'm not saying you have to replace EVERY single thing in your diet but maybe instead of using milk for a recipe use Almond milk, you can't even tell and its a good source of calcium and tons of vitamins! So, no I dont eat just salad. <3

Vegetarian/Vegan/Neither

I want to know why people become vegetarian and vegan, you already know why I did but I want to know other peoples reasons. If you are Vegetarian/Vegan please comment and let me know! If you are not a Vegetarian or Vegan let me know why you choose not to be! Tell me why and let me know what your favorite meal/dish is!

Well not a whole lot new here, we have had these hawks hanging around, we think that they are eating the crickets, I will try to get a picture. Had a simple toast P.B and J for breakfast. Going to the grocery store today, going to look for something to make for dinner and new recipes :)

Kale Chips

Good Morning! I think today I will post a recipe, Kale chips. They are SO unbelivably easy! (And Delicious!)

 Ingredients
 1 bunch of Kale
 1/4 of a lemon
1 Tbs of Sea Salt (Or Iodized, I just think sea salt is healthier)
 2 Tbs Olive Oil

Make sure you wash the kale and make sure it is dry when you start the recipe. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees.  So you want to take off the leafier part from the stalk and kind of make them the size of chips. Put them in a bowl then pour the 2 Tbs of olive oil over them, the juice of 1/4 lemon and the sea salt. (I used half a lemon in my first try out but I thought they were a little to sour so if you like sour go ahead and put the half in) Now just get your hands in there and mix the olive oil, lemon juice and sea salt evenly on all the chips. Lay them on a cookie sheet evenly. Let them cook for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes just check on them and make sure they are not sticking to the pan, put them in for another 10 minutes. Then you have nice cruncy, healthy, chip alternitive, kale chips. YUM! Let me know how they turn out!

Vegan Cheese

Yesterday I was a cooking fiend! I made mini cinnamon rolls (To die for!) kale chips, (turned out like kale charcoal) and vegan green bean casserole! All were so good!  My brother, lets call him Moldy Bean MB for short, said he wants his last meal when he dies (Not that that's going to happen any time soon!) to be my green bean casserole, what a compliment! So today I have not cooked as much but the day is not over yet! I made ribs for my carnivorous family and baked potatoes for me and them. I am going to use vegan butter and vegan cheddar cheddar cheese Yum:) So this vegan cheese that I have, its called Follow your Heart, cheese alternative. It says on the container "It Melts!" I made twice baked sweet potatoes a couple weeks ago and added the Vegan cheese on top. So the sweet potatoes had to be in the oven for 45 minutes at 450 degrees THAT'S HOT! This cheese that supposedly "melts" looked exactly how it did when I put it in the oven! Melts my butt..
Made some more kale chips today SO much better than yesterdays kale chars!
                         Delicious!

First post!

Welcome! This is going to be my first blog post EVER! Well I probably should tell you a little about me and my life. I am Green Teen, I am Vegetarian first off, 45 days and it is the best life decision I have ever made. I feel healthier, sleep better, have almost no acne, and have A LOT more energy. I decided to become Vegetarian because I feel that every animal has the want and need to live, and I am not going to take that away from them. I am not going to stand in their way of living their life to the fullest.  I am still going Vegan, I have not had liquid milk, eggs and cheese for over a month. I still eat cookies.......they are my weak spot.  My family is very supportive of me, which is great! I don't think I could do this without an awesome family!
